if you want to try your hand at decoction, this would be the beer to try it on.  just be sure to have the WHOLE day blocked off  ;) :D

Well, looks like I'm blocking off all of next Saturday  ;D Now to search the boards, internet, and Palmer's How to Brew to get a clue as to what to do  ;)

Thanks again for all the guidance!

i did  my  first decoction last sunday and it took a full 8 hours

i did my first triple decoction last sunday and the beer, doppelbock, is still fermenting so i can't comment on what the differences are,but i tried it once and for what the trouble is, i doubt that i will try it again.

back when cars had ignition points we would save the old condensers from the distributors and if you stick the wire in a spark plug wire, it would charge the condenser. as long as you didn't touch the body and the wire end you were o.k. then all you had to do was toss it so some unsuspecting sucker. he would grab it and zzzzzzap.

I loved the prices! I loved the lines! I loved the fact that I could actually FIX them if they broke!
I think they were even made in this country putting actual Americans to work!
I love the fact that the insurance companies did not dictate design! (and thereby price)
I love that they were made of METAL and some wood!

I know....dream on.... :'(
i've got a '56 bel-air, it could be for sale, you interested?

i have been donating beer to local charities for years and the local sheriff and state patrol have neither one said i couldn't do it.
