Anyone ever put this spice in beer as an adjunct?

I know they make mustard with commercial beers
so it is not like they do not go well together....

Other Fermentables / Trying a Wild Plum Melomel
« on: November 28, 2010, 04:37:14 PM »
I calculated the O.G. at 1.096
3 quarts of wild plum juice from our tree
2 quarts of Light clover local honey ....I mean light!
1 Lb of Jaggery
and 2 quarts of water
Yeast nutrients
Pectic Enzyme
and Lalvin  Bourgovin RC 212

Only gonna make a couple gallons but I did not want to waste the
plum harvest since SHMBO did not really get it together to make jelly like
we usually do.

Edit: It's In the fermenter.  Pitched 3 packs of dry yeast rehydrated in warm water
got a LONG  lag it seems like...slow to launch

I will stock up on it and hoard it because the season will soon be gone.
I dig the flavor of the Sterling Hops in this beer.  Recommend if you have it
available in your vicinity.  all ten of my thumbs point skyward

Classifieds / Hop Swap again
« on: November 04, 2010, 04:58:41 PM »
I have hops that I got from Hops Direct they are this year's crop all are leaf hops.
I packaged the unwanted portions back in vacuum packs by rolling the original mylar
and sliding the rolls into a tube of vacuum seal food saver.  I would venture a conservative
guess that each original mylar bag was only open for 20 minutes max...resealed and
placed into the freezer.

I have about a half pound of each of these variatels  vac packed in half pound packages
way too many for my brew year

Hallertau (GR) ...I guess that means german imported....

Please consider a swap with me if you have any fresh hops to part with
I prefer leaf or plug commercial grown.

Yeast and Fermentation / Growing up an alien wild yeast from scratch
« on: October 31, 2010, 01:24:01 AM »
anybody done this or have a process that works well??
I have a culture that I want to try to build up to beer fermentation levels
It is on the stir plate and I have been slowly trying to build the numbers of
yeasties by doubling the pitch rates over and over...cept I got side lined and
forgot to proceed and the yeast sat a long time in the fridge....I am trying to
give it a start again..we will see...I have minimal activity in a quart of starter wert.
