The "shipping" statement on your receipt is auto-generated by our database. It basically means that your order was entered into the database. If you had purchased merchandise, it would mail out that day. It's an old system that we're replacing as we speak (write??).

Soon, you'll be able to purchase a membership and it will go right into the database, like magic!!!

The Pub / Re: AHA Pub Discounts - What a letdown (For WA).
« on: April 01, 2011, 03:17:12 PM »
Hey everyone - there are laws in WA that prevent us from promoting breweries or beer bars that want to participate in the Pub Discount Program.

It is my understanding that the WA Liquor Control Board decided that any WA company with a Retail License can’t offer discounts to one group of people, like AHA members, if that discount isn't available to everyone.

Here’s the explanation we use:
Washington state alcohol regulations currently prohibit the Brewers Association from promoting Washington businesses that participate in the Pub Discount Program and in most cases prohibit Washington breweries from participating in the program.

We have hoped to establish something that would allow breweries without a Retail License to offer discounts and have not been able to get confirmation from the Washing Liquor Control Board to make that a reality.

Further, I'd like to apologize for the listing that claims Gordon Biersch - Seattle is a participant in the program. We've just recently had a database transition and I'm not quite show how that listing happened. It should come down tomorrow when our overnight routine refreshes the list.

Lastly, the pdf highlighted in an earlier post is out of date. Please use the online PDP directory for the most up-to-date list of participants. Changes happen all the time and that's the best place for information. http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/pages/directories/find-a-pub-discount

Thanks to everyone who chimed in on the topic. Have a great weekend!!

Cheers,
Kate

General Homebrew Discussion / Re: AHA membership number help
« on: February 02, 2011, 11:34:24 AM »
Hi everyone! I just wanted to chime in here to clear up a few questions.

If you need your AHA member number and haven't received an AHA welcome email (different from an order email) you can send a request to Info@BrewersAssociation.org. Our Member Services staff are best able to answer any questions about the status of your membership.

Also, we're in the midst of a database transition. So, I'm not entirely positive how processing memberships is changing. But, I do know, with our old database your order number and your member number were different. Our old system used to send out an automatic email when your membership was added to the database. It would auto-generate that email and include your order number. I don't think the new system will do that. Instead, you will just receive the AHA welcome email. We're using that new database starting today. Any membership submitted after Jan 26, 2011 will go into the new system.

Again, if you have membership questions regarding the status of a new membership or renewal, please contact Info@BrewersAssociation.org. They are also able to give you your member number if you haven't gotten the welcome email.

Cheers,
Kathryn

Malticulous says >>>It's been a long time with three emails to Kate and still I have no card. A sub forum for only AHA communication would be nice. Her frigging email is @brewersassociation.org even, what the hell happened to the AHA anyway?<<<

I’m very sorry to hear that you’ve had trouble receiving your AHA Member Card. I’ve spoken with Kate Kingsbery, AHA Member Services Team Lead, who’s been helping you resolve your missing AHA Member Card issue. She has verified that your AHA Member Card was sent from our printer three times to the address you confirmed as correct.

It’s disappointing for all of us to hear that the card hasn’t been delivered to your home after three attempts. Unfortunately, once the card leaves the printer we’re at the mercy of USPS to make the transaction complete.

Kate is going to print out one of the older style AHA Member cards to send to you directly from the BA office. Many of our members still carry these, so you shouldn’t have any troubles using it for Pub Discounts. Hopefully that one will find you!

To give you a brief history of the American Homebrewers Association, the AHA was created in 1978. The AHA then formed the Association of Brewers (AOB) in 1983 and at that point became a division of the AOB.  In 2005, the AOB merged with the Brewers Association of America to form the Brewers Association (BA). The AHA is still a division of the BA, just like the Professional, Events and Brewers Publications divisions. We all use @BrewersAssociation.org email addresses to represent the whole company that we are.

AHA members can contact the AHA regarding membership issues at any time by emailing info@brewersassociation.org or calling 888.822.6273 x 0.  Our member services team will be more than happy to help you.

Happy Brewing,
Kathryn Porter Drapeau

« on: July 29, 2010, 07:19:51 AM »
If you don't yet have a Family Membership, you'll need to upgrade to get your wife on your membership. The cost is only $5 for each year left on your membership. It's totally worth it though. Not only will she get to attend the Rally, but she'll also get her own AHA member card to use at Pub Discount locations.

Here's a link to the AHA Rally member form so you can check out the options. http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/attachments/0000/4249/AHAMemberForm2010Rally.pdf

Send me an email if you have more questions.

See you Friday!
