I am VERY satisfied with a 1.035 FG for an English BW.  IMHO it's the sweet spot.  American BW I like a bit drier.

That said the beer is done when the beer is done.  But to say where your beer is the recipe and process, mash temp, mash length, rousing routine, size of pitch (I like to use an entire yeast cake for this) all matter.

Events / Re: NHC Hotels filled up already?

If the AHA didn't book blocks of rooms, other non-AHA people would book those rooms, and you not have the opportunity to book those rooms at all.  Having rooms available for attendees is a very important part of the planning process.

I'm holding off on that as I'm unsure if I'm going out Tuesday or Wednesday.  Tuesday if I get my BJCP Written test results back and I scored under 75. Wednesday morning if I scored 75+ lol.... Going to book the hotel for Tuesday and adjust if needed (hopefully it will be needed lol)
Dan, if you (or any of the other GC candidates) win, you have a Wednesday morning meeting that will last into the afternoon, and you bring the beer.

I always get in on Tuesday night for that reason.

A reminder email will be sent tomorrow (3/5) as well as Friday (3/7).

Registration Update

Good News!

We are excited to report that all AHA members who applied to attend the AHA National Homebrewers Conference are guaranteed a spot. So rest easy, and feel free to start making your travel plans to Grand Rapids—Beer City, USA.

Did you Apply to Register?

Complete Your Registration

You still need to complete your purchase online to finalize registration for the conference. Be on the lookout for an email from Altitude Tickets no later than Tuesday, March 4 with instructions and a link to complete and pay for your registration.

Hotel Information

Paid attendees will receive hotel details on or before March 7. We have numerous hotel rooms held and you’ll get the information first as a paid attendee.

Hint: To ensure a room at one of the conference hotels closest to the venue, book before March 12. That’s when hotel information goes public to all AHA members.

Did You Miss the Application Window?

Relax, don’t worry, have a homebrew! We still have space for a few more attendees to enjoy the finest homebrew event of the year. Registration opens to all interested AHA members on Wednesday, March 12 at 12:00 noon Eastern (11:00 a.m. Central; 10:00 a.m. Mountain; 9:00 a.m. Pacific). At that time, registration and hotel information will be available via AHAConference.org.

See you in Grand Rapids!

Not at this time.

The total number registered/attending will be announced at the conference.

I have asked for the details.  But knowing them and being able to post are two different things.  You know I'm as open as I can be.

This was a very smooth process so far.  Much smoother than years past.
Expect the total attendance to be announced at the event as usual.

The data collected will be scrubbed for members (This is an AHA members only event) and duplicates.
After that the emails will go out.

Anyone else sign up a non-AHA member guest?
