I had to look up graupel.  It must be one of those 100 words that eskimos have for different kinds of snow.
German I think :)  It's funny stuff, like tiny snowballs.

We got over 5 inches, and expect a little more today.  That's a huge amount for this area, and with the low temps for the next couple of days I expect it to stick around.  School was canceled as expected, and might be tomorrow too.  It's like a mini-vacation :)

I just got off of the phone with a lab manager I work with in Burlington WA.  He says snow has brought everything there pretty much to a stop.

The only NASCAR races I watched were in Daytona.  I went to ONE Firecracker 400 (aka heatstroke 400).  Since they moved it to nightime it seems like it might be more bearable.

I went to many Daytona 24 hour races... Party in the infield!

Bike Week is part of Speed Weeks - the last week of Speed Weeks - the first week of March.

The blue is the color of the epoxy, the reason it is the color "blue" is because it matches the color of the drapes in the parlor. Maybe we should have consulted Martha Stewart...  ;)

BLUE MEANIES!

Parenthood-wise, that which doesn't kill you makes you (and yours) stronger... truely.

Being the father to a son is, hands down, the best thing in my life so far, and at times, the scariest too.

Good for you for following your gut and doing the right thing!

I lived 50 miles from Daytona for 35 years.  Now I live 5,000 miles from Daytona.  That still takes some getting used to.  Especially during Speed Weeks...

BTW, I was there that day...

A few of you had PM'ed me over the last few months and asked to see some progress on the brewery. I finally have gotten time to upload some photos

I hear you!  On another forum we all congratulate each other on reaching 96%...

But,that's a horse of a different color.  However, the thrill of accomplishment is still the same!

Congratulations!

Put me down for the whiz factor. I'll pee where ever I am standing at and I make it a point to let everyone know what I am doing. I gotta lota garden in my back yard and have no problem whizzing where I eat.

Meanwhile back at the ranch...

Did I read the blog right? Wirelessly controlling the brewery from inside the house? WOW that is one
upgrade that never crossed my mind. Nice rig!

See SCADA

Access and control wherever there is broadband connectivity.

You oughta put a label on that thing, "NOT FOR BREWING." Never know what might happen if you BWI.

Well, if ya brew with it ya won't hafta worry about getting light-struck flavors!

I used to donate at work when I lived in Orlando.  The Bloodmobile comes regularly to OUC's Stanton Energy Center.  It takes a lot more of a concerted effort to donate here in Puna, and it doesn't happen so much... Go figure

Funny thing - I'd feel sleepy for a couple of days after giving a pint.  Too cool!  A free buzz while helping others...

Not sure how much I gave over the 15 years I worked at the Stanton Energy Center.  More than two pints, I guess.  They like me; I'm O negative.

Vegemite might be a poor substitute for marmite to some (and vice versa) but you wouldn't know for sure without tasting it.

I tried Vegemite.  Some Aussies were in town for the Ironman and shared some with me.

IMHO it's a poor substitute for anything.  It tasted like what I imagine asphalt on rock salt would taste like.  I'm still trying to get the taste out of my mouth.  :P
