Give 'er a taste and see what you think.  There is no right or wrong.

That's the beauty of meadmaking; there are no "defined" styles (except for that SCA spice/tea/mead thing).

You're free to do whatever you want that tastes good to you.  But then again, isn't that what any type of homemade beverage making is about anyway?  And don't be scared away from researching distilling by superstition.

Yeah, the 2007 Sugar Bowl was a tough game for Hawaii, but I liked their attitude.

And I have to say I'm surprised to hear you can get collards in Hawaii! Are they as good as back home?

If I remember correctly UH got their first touchdown in the 4th quarter, and from the reaction of the UH fans you'd of thought they just won the game.  That is sooo Hawaii.  Always looking at the positive side of things!  As a Dolphan and a Hawaii resident I am proud that Davone Bess is doing so well in the NFL

Hawaii is home.  The collard greens I fixed today were local and turned out to be the best I've made so far, by far.  A bit expensive though, so next year I'm growing my own.

We're always laid back here.  Life's too short to be in a hurry...

I can.  And although I find this objectionable, it's not clear that it violates the constitution.

US Constitution - Amendment 4 - Ratified 12/15/1791.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

What part of being on the road on Saturday night when the bars close and refusing a breath test is not probable cause for a warrant?

You are kidding, right?  You're saying that just by driving a car at a particular time of day makes you suspicious and gives the authorities the power to detain you against your will and take blood from you against your will?

That kinda sucks for people who a driving to or from work don't you think?  Perhaps they should be required to carry a note from their employer, "Please excuse (your name here) from having his civil rights violated.  He is on his way home from work."

Collards and black eyed peas - both seasoned with smoked pork and peas will be doused with a helping of chow-chow.

Spoken like a true Southerner!

wine and beer is little more than the urine and flatulence of a microscopic fungus in some sort of sugar water.   ;D

My son watches my brewing and meadmaking efforts and helps me wash vessles ("where are the nuclear wessles?") on ocassion.  He thinks it's hilarious, "Dad, you and Mom are drinking yeast farts and pee!  Ha, ha, ha!"

punatic, it was a good Liberty Bowl, UCF played well; congratulations.  :)

Thank you kerneldustjacket.  It was a good game.  Both teams played hard till the final gun.

I was a Gators fan for decades before enrolling in UCF Engineering, so I have that FL vs GA rivalry in my blood.

You're right, the SEC is a tough conference, as the Hawaii Warriors learned in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago.  I warned my UH fan friends that they were not playing high school football against the Bulldogs.

It's a gorgeous first day of the year here.  No surf to speak of  :(  So I'm gonna go snorkeling in the Kapoho tidepools.

Ham's in the smoker, blackeyed peas are soaked, collard greens are ready to cook, Bama's kicking Michigan State's a$$ in Orlando - time to go jump in the Pacific for a swim...

Can you see a judge sitting around at a checkpoint waiting to write warrants?

UCF won the Liberty Bowl so it's already a Happy New Year here!  Woo hoo!

Just got invited to my friends' house for homemade pizza and rootbeer (they are Mormons).  They usuall make their rootbeer in a corny keg with dry ice.  The dry ice store was closed today so no joy.  My friend does have bottled nitrogen though.  I mentioned that some stouts are pushed with nitrogen.  Before I could offer to lend him my small CO2 rig he decided to try nitrogen on the rootbeer.  This ought to be interesting... Anyone ever try nitrogenated rootbeer before?

That's my take too tubercle, not sure why winers would have their panties in a bunch.  Other than that is the default position for winers. ;D

Perhaps that should be spelled whiners?

I enjoy wine very much.  I used to be a wholesale wine salesman back in the 70s.  It's a great buzz, but the worst hangover for sure!

Any suggestions for a name for fermented fruit beverages (other than the ones already taken)?  We need something catchy...

Hooch?

 ;)

[edit: Oops. Didn't see "already taken." Also please note that this was tongue-in-cheek. Lots of people getting offended on the board these days it seems, and I don't mean no offense.]

I am sooo offended.  Hooch indeed!!

Eau de vie, perhaps?  (oops... did I say that out loud?)
