I'm done with work for the rest of the year. So, my 11-year-old son and I sat down this afternoon and watched a couple of movies on TCM; The Black Stallion and Boys' Town.  Guess it was a bit of a Mickey Rooney fest.

I had forgotten what a great movie The Black Stallion is.  I had never seen Boys' Town before.  Man I really enjoy Christmas and watching classic movies with family!

We got 2" of rain here in 10 minutes this afternoon.  Pretty amazing experience being in that.  Even more amazing that it is not uncommon for this to happen this time of the year here.

Has anybody seen True Grit?

Honestly, IMO, remakiing this movie is akin to trying to make Led Zepplin song better. I for one, will noy pay 9$ to see.

Amen Broither!  The first True Grit is in my top five all-time favs.  I said the same thing.  Then I saw it is a Coen Brothers movie (staring The Dude no less). Now Jeff Bridges is no John Wayne, but hey, Barry Pepper as "Lucky" Ned Pepper... That's a casting coup, no doubt.

I absolutely get the heeby jeebies sitting in a dark room full of sneezing and coughing strangers, so seeing it at the theater for nine bucks ain't gonna happen.  But just think... True Grit done No Country For Old Men style.  That's definetly worth a look.

2 cups cream from top of fresh raw milk. preferably from Jersey cows.

That reminds me of a joke that I heard at the '95 NHC in Baltimore,

What do cows from New Jersey say?
"F#@kin' moo."

Lunar eclipse coinciding with winter solstice is once in many lifetimes.

Total lunar eclipses come in clusters. There can be two or three during a period of a year or a year and a half, followed by a lull of two or three years before another round begins. When you add partial eclipses there can be three in a calendar year and again, it's quite possible to have none at all.
