@bluefoxicy - Having participated in medieval re-enactments for over 30 years, I'd say that there are still quite a few sword makers around; bought from at least a dozen over the years (knives, axes, spears, war hammers and armor, too).  I've even made a few mostly by the stock removal technique (read this as lots and lots of time with steel, files and emery cloth).

If you don't need a master piece, Museum Replicas has a nice selection.

...and to answer the question posed later in the thread, I do brew.  The re-enactment scene is where I had mead for the first time (back in 1983) and decided I could make better. =)

So it is essentially artwork?  That works for me, glad you enjoy it.  I have a picture of this tree on my wall that greets me when I come home, it makes me happy.

It's in the Portland Japanese Garden.  Beautiful.  I always forget to go when we're in Portland.

I used to sneak into the Japanese garden when I lived in Portland. that was fun. It's a beautiful place for sure. Being a poor penniless hippy and riding the bus through those neighborhoods always alleviated any qualms about sneaking in. ahh to be young and light on scruples.

I really did crave a taco on my way home tonight.

Hollys taking the dog to the vet, and I think she is gonna swing past TAco Johns for a few tacos for me. I think I have an addiction.
I love Taco John's.  6-pack & a pound!  I can usually never finish it.  It's so much food.

Oh yeah, I always forget about their Christmas commercial on TV.  That song just sticks in your head for days...

Oh yeah, I always forget about their Christmas commercial on TV.  That song just sticks in your head for days...

My wife and kids started playing Christmas music around Halloween.  Now with radio stations, both broadcast and satellite, playing "continuous holiday favorites" I'm ready to gag.  Don't get me wrong, I like Christmas music, just not all the time for months on end.

Sorry, now back to the real discussion.

I've never considered a "6 pack and a pound" a meal for one person.  It would feed my four kids and my wife.  I wouldn't dream of eating one by myself.  (Of course I work for a company where the new health plans for next year will make anyone who isn't built like Twiggy feel like an obese blob so I may be a bit sensitive.  As well as broke.)

Yeah, I know what you mean, but it's a good start anyway...   :)
