Ah, true. With my centennial ale I laugh at Jim Koch's "more than a pound per barrel" hop utilization. But not by much.

I laugh at that commercial too. But then I taste a Sam Adams, and wonder where all those hops are going. ???

I just packed my new 5lb shipment of hops into the garage freezer.  I got everything in.  But my wife is not going to be pleased when she sees that.  I think I should have ordered more pellets and less leaf.  I also think I have a hop hoarding problem.

I need to ramp up my production of IPAs...

Sounds like you need a dedicated hop freezer! :)

I do!  When my wife asks me about all of those hops I'll explain that.  I'll put it right next to the fermentation freezer and the serving freezer.  Maybe now would also be a good time to discuss a dedicated freezer for lagering as well.   ;D

My freezer is fine. Thanks for asking. :D

Yes, but is your refrigerator running?

If it is....  You'd better run after it!     puh dum bum

Hey...I can almost run with the BIG dogs.  I'm at around 20# and still concerned if that's enough :-\
I'm giving up on leaf , just too much space required. My husband supports my brew hobby, but he still insists on
"other" food too. Minnesota had some advantages to Oregon in the winter. There I could just leave all my food
outside until April.

I'm currently lobbying for the dedicated lagering/storage freezer.  I don't like the kegs being subjected to the up and down temperatures of various fermentations. It's a delicate negotiation.

Being amazingly smart I bought my wife a fancy new fridge a few years ago and disposed of that old eyesore(into the garage).  So since it was our 22 cu ft family fridge it has a big freezer on top.  I also use primarily pellets because of space limits so I have room for 25 or more pounds of hops in there.  It holds 6 cornies also, making it pretty ideal for a homebrewer.
