I've had more issues of the years with sensor failing than with my actual vehicle breaking down.  Had a Ford truck with a crank shaft sensor that shut the whole vehicle down immediately when I tried to start it.  Nothing wrong with the crank shaft, just the sensor.

That tire light will also go off it's over pressured.  We had these on the trucks at work and one intern saw that it kept coming on so he kept pumping air into it.  When he told me about it I checked the tire and he had it up over 90 psi because he just assumed it was low and kept shoving more air in.

This all reminds me of the bit in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe where Ford Prefect tries to fly an all balck spaceship and points out that a when you do something a black light lights up in black to tell you you've done it.

Start with the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.  It is very good.

Chances are you have heard of the movie weaze? Or the TV series? There's three books IIRC.

I listened to it as a radio show on PBS/NPR back in the 70s..

There's three books IIRC.

It's actually the "increasingly inaccurately named Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy", consisting of five books.

You are in for a wild ride of British humour! Yes I keep a towel handy at all times...

The remake of the movie was pretty good.

Wouldn't it figure.   The tpi light ( looks like a horseshoe with an ! in the middle ) came on for the first time last night on my wife'ss Kia.  Check the pressure and the right, rear tire is 3psi low.  Sensitive little bugger, isn't it?

SO THAT'S WHAT THAT THING IS! I had no idea, I've seen it in rental cars a lot and could never figure what it meant.
