Talk me into brewing Saturday morning
« on: December 15, 2011, 10:32:29 pm »
So... I find myself unexpectedly without kids on Saturday until 2. Here's the rundown:

Pro:
- I have all the ingredients I need
- I have the time
- It may be quite some time again until I'm able to brew

Con:
- Girlfriend also has no kids on Saturday, and it will probably be her last free weekend for quite some time. I can't brew at her place, and she can't come over here.
- All my equipment has been unused for a long time now. I have no idea what condition it's in. Burners are probably rusted to s*** by now.
- I have no propane
- I have a ton of other things to do

What to do, what to do...

No can do, man. Pick up a six pack and spend some time with your girlfriend.

go her her place.  brew a 5 gallon extract batch on her stove in the kitchen using 2-3 gallons of water and backfill it to 5 gallons in the primary fermenter.  You brew but you included her into something new, you spend an hour and a half or or so brewing and then enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Besides you'll only actually do about 10 minutes actual work. Go grab a pre hopped kit. Break the ice.

Spend an hour in the morning cleaning up your gear and figuring out what to do to get it working again.  Then go see your girlfriend with that 6-pack.  If you like her, skip the extract brew.   You can teach her to brew some other time when time isn't so tight.

Take the advice of an old horndog; forget about brewing this weekend.   ;D

+1  You'll probably need to spend some time getting your system cleaned up and put back together.  Work on that a little and then head over to the girlfriends place.

You guys suck at talking me into brewing.  :D

I'm not doing an extract batch over there, because then she won't understand why I have to spend the extra time and effort for all-grain when I finally am able to do it again.

Anyway... Maybe I can take a look at equipment tonight.

Or maybe wait and let the girlfriend help out with your equipment in the morning? ;)
