Well she is by the numbers spot on....maybe a little dark but I can handle it...



Got to get her down to lager pitch temps and put it on that nice FRESH pils yeastcake
that is just waiting and ready (racked the pils to a keg today).

Saw this over on the NB board, looks good.  Wish I could do lagers, I don't really have the right ambient temp in the basement for it.  How was your efficiency?  1.070 with 15ish lbs of grain?  Somewhere around 75-80% I'm guessing.  That'll be a good one to have when it starts to warm up outside for sure.

Now you've gone and done it. I been brewing since 06, and never calculated
efficiency yet. I'll take your word for the 70-80%...and never look back.
I guess it's kind of nice to know ....BUT, I am just a lowly homebrewer
that tries to brew the best beer I can with the best quality ingredients I can obtain.

I feel I would not need to know efficiency stuff unless I was trying to stay
within a budget or brew for profit.....bean counter stuff turns me off....

But thanks for askin...lol

I put it up over at NB  there is a following of my hydro shots...
and yesterday I just had one of those photo ops...

It helps to know your efficiency when you're calculating recipes to make sure you hit the OG you intend.  At least, that's my main use of it.

hmmmm....I see how that comes into play Denny.  I got my grain mill and set the gap
using the credit card method, and never looked back. I got a nice crush that looked
real similar to photos that were put up at NB.

I have fairly consistantly hit the numbers. Once I Got dialed in on the water additions
and a copy of John PLC tech's, Mashwater software, it just came together nicely.

I guess in my mind, the water is the Key to hitting the OG and I overlooked the crush
variable. Just plain took it for granted.

I use efficiency for the same reason Denny does.  It's a good tool to base recipes around.

I'm going to try to make a Maibock / Oktoberfest this year if I get my brew shed up to snuff for it.  You guys are making me jealous.   :(   :D

Put it in the Keg today....going to drop temps down closer to freezing....
and start the lager process.  S.G. today is at 1.020.  6.7% abv...
it ought to be a nice spring beer.... :P

Did not dry out as much as I hoped...I even use servomyces.
I think I may just curtail buying servo and use some white labs
yeast nutrient from here on....don't seem to get the bang
for my buck I was hoping to get with the servo.
