That's just wrong.  I like bacon, but it's not THAT freakin' good...

I beg to differ, they are indeed THAT freakin' good.
This, on the other hand is a step too far for me...

Back to the bacon muffins. That looks freakin awesome! Looking for the muffin pan.

Are the eggs cooked through or are the yolks still runny?

So do we need a weekly "What's cooking with bacon this weekend" thread?

I'm going to try to do them with a runny yolk. Hard to beat cleaning up your yolky plate with a piece of buttery toast. Damn that's gonna be good.

they were not runny when I made them at 400 for 15 minutes.  The yolks had the consistency of a hard boiled egg.  I would prefer a runnier yolk as well, but imagine it would make it harder to get it out of the pan in one piece.  Post back the results of any experiments please.

you could use the paper cupcake cups. then you can just peel the paper away to eat.

And I thought this was going to be a cupcake with little bacon bits on top.  I'm going to have to try this, but instead of salsa, I'll try some green chili sauce.  Thanks for the idea!

There is a cupcake shop in my town that does this. chocolate cupcakes with bacon in them and on top. people like them apparently. As a lifelong vegetarian I can say that the only reason I have ever wanted to try bacon was because everyone else seems so into it. Personally (sorry weaze, remember the brotherhood of the kilt) don't care for the smell. and what little bits I have tasted (accidentally) were not to my liking either. This is kind of strange as the nasty frozen fake soy bacon I actually like. go figure, I guess I just don't like pork.

My girlfriend is dying to make these. I dun good.  ;D

I have to say this is the most clever and simple dish. Especially when you have a group of folks, family for instance! A dozen eggs, pound of bacon, some cheese and whatnot. Basically what you can scrounge right? Fill up that muffin pan and in the oven she goes. The compliments will flow.

Bacon was done in the micro for 1.2 minutes. I put some chopped up frozen thin frenchfries on the bottom. And no spray either (forgot) or salt. It does need it but thought the bacon would be salty enough. Maybe for some but not for me. And it is amazing how the bacon and egg fit in there perfect like it was intended. As a test run I'm impressed. OK now for the pron:

This is a pretty cool idea.  I bet I could get my son on board with these for breakfast if I let him help me make them.  He likes all of the components and is much more likely to eat food he participates in the preparation of.

I whipped up a test batch of these for lunch.  13 minutes at 400F and the yolk was the consistency of a soft boiled egg.  I think I could back off the cook time another minute or so to get them runnier.

Next time I'll brown the hashbrowns a little first and up the salt and pepper but these are great.
