Is this normal for a bazooka screen?
« on: February 19, 2012, 08:33:11 pm »
First time doing an all-grain boil and I kept having to knock crap off the bazooka screen to keep things flowing into the fermenter. Is that normal or did I do a bad job sparging?

it's probably clogged with hops, I have the same problem.  I have to stir/scrape mine constantly while transferring to the fermenter.

Yeah, they have a tendency to get clogged.  Whole hops work pretty well with them but be sure to bag pellets or you'll be pouring your wort through a strainer to get it into the fermenter.

I don't mind pouring through a strainer with the pellet hops. helps aerate the wort for pitching.

Happens to me all the time.  This is a big reason why I try to use whole hops exclusively in the boil kettle.
