I love beersmith
« on: March 16, 2012, 07:57:48 am »
I've been using beersmith for quite some time, but hate bringing my laptop out to the brewery.  Is anyone aware of good software for the PC, that will sync to an iPhone app?  (won't switch to a mac for beeralchemy)

Try www.ibrewmaster.com

There is an android app called Brewer's Assistant that allows import of beersmith recipes, but I see mixed reviews for it and I don't think there is an iPhone version.

I have ibrewmaster.  Is there a PC version that syncs?  I want to enter recipes on my PC, then just bring my iPhone to the brewery.

i kind of wanted to go back and forth like that, but once i started using ibrewmaster, i really don't use anything else except for the brewtarget on my pc (which is free) just to play with recipe ideas.  even then i don't use that much and just play with the ibrewmaster

Hmmm, guess not.

This seems like a gap in homebrew tech.

I'm patiently awaiting the Beersmith android app. It's supposed to use "cloud" storage for recipe sharing and what-not. No clue as to how far he is in development though.

It's being alpha tested now.

I actually kind of like having my laptop out on the workbench during a brew session but the thought of an iphone app for beersmith is pretty exciting.  It would be pretty cool to be able to tinker with your recipes and inventories while out and about.

Look into a remote desktop app like Logmein. I use that on my iPad when I don't want to bring my laptop downstairs and I want to run Beersmith - it's a little slow but it's free and was super easy to set up. Not sure what it looks like on an iPhone but it's pretty good for the iPad.

Another vote for Logmein.  I also use it to control my laptop from my iPad and it meets my 2 main criteria for software....easy and effective.

I hate how their app is free for iPad but $29.99 for Android...still looking for a free Android solution...

After all my b****ing I realized I had a full version of Splashtop Remote Desktop. I had got it for free ages ago when Amazon offered it as one of their free app deals.
