Hop breeding, varieties, shortages etc..
« on: February 27, 2012, 10:00:13 pm »
Hi all, I don't know if anyone has posted this but it's a great interview with Dr. Al Haunold (USDA) and Dave Wills (Freshops) about all things HOPS:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpmWm6O0yzU .  Enjoy!

I just noticed that spot prices for bulk Centennial are over $21/lb.  That is an indicator of how wide spread the use of Centennial is in a variety of commercial beers.  What a great hop.  Its time to get more in the ground!

According to Matt Brynildson at the 2011 NHC, Centennial is the #2 hop used by Craft Brewers.  Cascade is #1.  Read somewhere that the Centennial crop in 2011 was a little down on yield.  One of my favorites.
