Coconut water?
« on: March 01, 2012, 08:38:00 pm »
I've been seeing this in the water section. Expensive but wondering who's tried it and if the CW has a brewing application such as a coconut porter.

I have been wondering the same thing. I did a big giant saison a couple months ago and used coconut sugar and got some good coconut flavour that way. and my son loves the coconut water. I lik eit too. The only thing I worry about is that it has an almost salty flavour. not quite salty but rich and savory. it's also wicked expensive but a 1 gallon test batch might be in order.

It grows on trees everywhere around here.  We think it's funny that it has become the flavor of the month - the cool thing to be seen drinking.  On par with fanny packs.   ::)

I've tried it, and i don't think it has enough coconut flavor to come through well in a beer.

Don't know that I'd use it in a beer but, Gin and Coconut Water is a popular (and quite tasty) mixed drink in the Bahamas (called a Gully Wash).
