hops!
« on: May 12, 2012, 09:49:35 am »
This is my first year growing hops and I planted 5 varieties, however I received a few Cascade rhizomes from a fellow brewer in the local club in early March. The Cascades are the ones pictured. I also had ordered and planted Centennial, Willamette, Golding, and Nugget, but the Nuggets never came up. The ordered hops are just now starting to climb the trellis which is about 10 feet tall.

so lets see how everyones crop looks so far!

No pics yet.  I was out pulling shoots by the handful yesterday.

I was looking at my Cascade today... They are going gangbusters this year. I think it's because of all the rain we've had recently. I'll post some pics soon.

If they need the rain, I have that. Picked up about 4 inches in the past week.

one of my cascade has gotten taller than me now, they weren't doing great until I got some drip irrigation set up, they just took off after that though. centennial are really starting to burst up as well, I'm starting to notice some lateral growth there. My lonely sterling is till only about 8 inches tall but it's looking like it will take off soon as well. only the 1 shoot on that one as well. but it was also the last in the ground so we will see.
