I tend to do a lot of tiny saisons and pale ales as the weather gets warmer. This year I'm planning to do a bunch of bitters too.

We're actually brewing up a Belgian Blonde next week. That fits into the perfect spring beer category IMO.

Spring in Montana = 13 more weeks of winter.

I like maibock....

10 lbs. German pilsner malt
4 lbs. German munich malt
1.5 lbs. Cara-Red

Mash at 145°F for 60 min, add boiling water and mash at 155°F for 30 min

Boil for at least 2 hours.

2 oz. Hallertauer 60 min
0.5 oz. Tettnanger 15 min

Czech lager yeast

OG 1.066, 30 IBUs.  This beer rocks!

I like the spruce tips idea.  CP has a spruce beer recipe, if I recall correctly.

I don't really drink "seasonally", but if there is one beer that I associate with spring  it's Bock.  I love the stuff...including the American ones like Yuengling, Genesee, Shiner, and others like it that seem to be making a resurgence.

Part of it is probably a sentimental association, too:  The very first sixpack of beer I ever purchased for myself, back in the spring of 1969,  was a Bock beer.  I looked forward to it every spring after that.

Saison is really nice, so is MaiBock (which is kind of my personal favorite spring beer) but you certainly can't go wrong with a nice IPA - for any time of the year for that mattter.

I vote for an IPA or pale ale, possibly dry hopped.  A nice crispy pale ale really sounds like the answer for spring.

Just picked up a 4 pack of that. One of my favs also, but I wasn't all that impressed this year. Just didnt seem to have the hop aroma and apricot flavor this year. Maybe not as good of a crop?
