Well, it doesn't really matter what you or I think. Football is a business as much of it is a game (perhaps more of of a business) and the sanctions are driven from a business standpoint. Plus, they were warned to stop once and they didn't. The NFL wants to minimize injuries from a business standpoint.

New York Jets?!  Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!!

Divine intervention.  Jets can't read contracts.

You know he would have had a hard time with Rex Ryan's mouth.

From reading the article on espn it was more about Payton being warned about it, then lying about it and then trying to get all the coaches to lie together. That seems to be the reasoning for the stiffer punishment he faces.  He should have pulled the Billichek and said oh I didn't interpret the rules that way. Or the  George Costanza, was that wrong, should I not have done that?

If they really want to stop injuries they should remove the top of the helmet for defensive players and just go with a strap to hold it in place across the top.  You're not going to see players leading with the helmet anymore if they do that. ;)

Nice ;D

Lets get a graphic designer to shop us some new D helmets
topless schmidlen style.

Harrison has a big head.

To add to the blither of strange foot ball words strung together for Denny and Sean
this caught me off guard

Payton being warned about it, then lying about it

Thank goodness the Payton round here is O
because he has an Enormous Forehead.   ;)

So...are the Jets going to use Sanchez as their starter and Tebow for special plays or will Tebow start?

Why not go the other way around and put a sharp object on the top. That will really make it interesting.....  ??? ???

It's just the constant march towards rhe pussification of the game.

"$96 million?  Wha?!"

What do you think?  Someone makes that much money just because they are Archie's son, Eli's brother, or looks good in pads?  Please...

The salaries paid to the players are outlandish.  Why?  Because they put their lives on the line.  They know what they've signed on for. They are gladiators.  If you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen.

I tried it, I couldn't and I did.  I was a damn good cornerback, but it just hurt way too much when I got hit.

Every team pays a bounty of one sort or another for taking out a player on the other side.  Anyone who says otherwise is uniformed or lying.
There is only one success: to be able to spend your life in your own way.

Any team caught putting a bounty on players should be suspended for an entire season, IMO. It's a game not a battle.

No, he's also great in commercials. Look up the United Way skit that he did on SNL. Hilarious!

Agreed! I wish I was good enough to get on the practice squad and make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

seems like a lot of work.

Crap, I was hoping that some graphic designer had time to
photoshop us some schmidlin half helmets.

Guess they are all brewing beer now.

On the OP,
after hearing post game interviews from the old Denver quarterback last season
and then listening to the first interview of the new Denver quarterback...

all I got is wow...  That is really different.
