But here again, you know what is meaning to be said.  Language has fulfilled its purpose.

crawdad.

I love the old cajun story of the genesis of the mudbug.

It seems that way back in the day, when the 'cajuns' were the 'acadians' and lived up in south eastern canada/northeastern US they were, naturally lobser men, as those that remain still often are.

Well when the time came for them to migrate down to points south they did and before too long those big ol' maine lobster started to get lonely for their old friends and decided to follow.

But it's a long arduous trip from Nova Scotia to NOLA. particularly when your only mode of transport are eight tiny legs. well after a goodly long while they did finally make it but their adventures had caused them to lose a lot of weight. Thus mudbugs.  ;D

Why is a tornado like a redneck divorce?

Either way someone's losing a trailer...

Neither.  In general terms, it's crawfish.  But most people I know call them mudbugs or just bugs.  I do a big boil every year and go to crawfish festivals when possible.  My big boil last year was 750 pounds of bugs and fed 115 people.  (Thank god for multiple 20 gallon pots).  It was a blast tho, we had a live band in the garage and actually had a guy doing tattos on the couch in my living room.

We take crawfish parties kinda serious in this house.

I imagine most of you would pronounce Arkansas City or the Arkansas River like the state "Ár-ken-saw".  However in Kansas most people pronounce it "ar-Kán-sas"     ???

People visiting the ocean in Delaware go to the beach.  In New Jersey, they go to the shore.
