Okay Princess Bride fans...
« on: April 03, 2012, 08:39:39 am »
Is this to obscure a reference for a beer name?

I have a rye IPA recipe that I am really digging and want to brew again. The name just came to me...

I brew all grain (AG) and this is a Rye (R) IPA (IPA) so it's an AGRIPA...

Princess Bride is one of my very favorite movies of all time so this beer will, henceforth, be known as...

Inigo Montoya

think about it... maybe go watch the movie again.

(hint) It's in the first sword fight scene between inigo and 'The Man in Black'

May be a little bit of a reach. Agrippa has 2 P's, and it's more of a fencing reference. Still, I like where you're going with it...

Indeed a fencing reference. Inigo mentions it in his battle with the man in black. I said I was stretching didn't I? I could make it an extra pale ale, just take out the crystal malt then I could go with (AG)(R)(IPPA) (two Ps for Pale Pale)

But the real question is... can it be drunk by a six-fingered man?

And if you made an Imperial French Saison you'd call it Fezzik?

Fezzik, would you like a beer?
Only if it's very clear.

Totally awesome idea!!!!!!

I have a giant saison that I just bottled. brewed with (fists as big as) coconut sugar. That just got christened Fezzik. Thank you Graham!

Hopefully drinking them will not introduce you to the Fire Swamps or any ROUS.  8^)

You keep on using that word... I do not think it means what you think it means... :-)  What a great movie.

I can live quite comfortably for some time in the fire swamps. I can recognize the lighting sand and the flame spurts. And frankly I don't think the ROUSs exist... aggh!

You could make a high ABV CAP or Blonde and call it Iocain or Duel of Wits.

Lots of possibilities to play with names.

I like it. Yeah my mind is racing now. The Princess Bride series.

Already got Inigo and Fezzik

A stout with all late mash de-bittered dark malts so no roast and it can be the man in black. He's still just a boring blond but he LOOKS black and dangerous.

Ahh but what to do for Miracle Max. and the witch (I'm not a witch, I'm your wife!)

If someone wanted to brew for their wedding, they could call it "Mawage Ale"
