Why do you brew 11 gallons rather than 10?  Do you use 5-gallon Corny kegs or do you bottle?  Or a combination of the two?
I generally aim for 5.5 or 11 gallons because there will be losses to transfer, sampling, trub etc. With an IPA particularly because of the dry hops it's a good idea to plan that extra .5/1 gallon if you want to end up with 5 or 10 gallons.

At least that's why I do it, Don't know about Ron.
Makes sense.  Thanks!

Hoping to get an IPA in this weekend.  Need to finish preparing the garden as well, but did most of that over Easter weekend.  Wife will be plant shopping for the flower beds and perhaps some early garden stuff.  I may be digging holes. :o

Postponing IPA unitl next weekend.  Siding and deck washing just got moved up the list. ::)

The taxman took all my brew money so I'll be transferring an English Bitter into bottles or a keg and then watching the beer carbonate...the closest I'm getting to any brewing unfortunately.

It's two weeks to my next brew session, though I'm REALLY looking forward to it... it's been a while. Thinking about another oatmeal stout--something sturdy but velvety. The best I can do for the next two weekends is a little "research."

I'm brewing an IPA tomorrow after ferrying the wife to the airport. I have a pile of Falconer's Flight 7C's that I'm going to blast it with late.

Bottled a Dry Irish Stout today it is gonna be good. Going to brew a smokey oyster stout tomorrow. Quart of fresh oysters in the boil . With a little home alder smoked grain. Hope it turns out. Love oysters and any thing smoked.

Tax Day Bock for me.  I am in the midst of the second of three decoctions.

Sounds taxing...  ;)

Pretty relaxing if compared to a work day. :)

I just transferred my last beer off the yeasts to a secondary so I can reuse it for this Bock.
I had pitched 5 gallons of German Pils with Helles yeast #860 and the other half with Pils yeast #800.  I'm liking the sample of the Helles batch much better.  We'll see after it lagers a bit.

No brewing for me this weekend but I kicked two kegs and cleaned and sanitized four.  Also set up the lines for my new two way gas distributor so I can now have five kegs on the gas at the same time, two at one pressure and three at another.  And I cleaned all of my draft lines and kicked off a starter for next weekend.

So it's been a pretty productive beer weekend.

Transferred my carrot blossom mead into secondary, and brewed a tripel. Apparently I did not have as much table sugar lying around, so I ended up throwing a couple varieties of honey, and a little D-90 in. Which is fine with me, it will just be a gold color.

It was Brewhemoth day for myself and my friend.  we kegged three kegs of APA, then cleaned the Brewhemoth and brewed 15gal of best bitter.  Used my new 70qt Coleman MLT, that worked well.  Boiled in his keggle and whirlpooled with my little DC voltage pump, that too worked fine and we pumped the wort to a Better Bottle to transfer to the Brewhemoth.  With setup and cleanup it was an 8-hr day but we got a lot done.  Also had a barbecue with the families so it was a fun day.
