RIP MCA
« on: May 04, 2012, 11:42:22 am »
Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys passed away today. Raise a glass to MCA. Lots of great, albeit hazy, memories in my life listening to the Beastie Boys.

Thata sucks. Not a huge fan but I did get a kick out of that band from time to time. Seem like a bunch of fun dudes. Hate to hear one of them is gone.

Just this past Wednesday, I was posting lyrics to Funky Monkey one Facebook. Somehow, I can't help but feel responsible.  :'(

The Beasties are definitely a part of the soundtrack of my life. Ill communication is one of the best hip hop albums ever made. Not bad for a bunch of white guys!

The best thing about the Beasties is that they had such great crossover appeal. I'm not a fan of rap/hip hop but I've always been a big fan of their music. RIP MCA

A great person from a great band. Paul's Boutique is a great album, and is always playing around this house. I got to see them live at the Tibetan Freedom Festival in (I think) '98. They sounded great, especially Sabotage. Definitely a highlight in my life. Very sad to hear about his passing.

The only time I saw them live was at Lollapalooza at the Starplex in 94. The Beastie Boys went on before the main act (Smashing Pumpkins) but were definitely the stars of the show. Simply amazing performance.

I was too young to get to see them live, and then I was too much in the middle of nowhere. I have nearly all of their albums, and have youtube'd the rest. I.e., Cookiepuss. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DOMxm0o12c
