I tried them last year as a potential sub for amarillo - they did not have enough citrus character for what I was trying to do with them. Not sure what I would recommend them for, if anything.

definitely nothing at all like simcoe. Not like chinook either.

Yep, that's what I was hoping for. They made a poor substitute though. I tried a single hop beer with them as well and just didn't have the "punch" that cascade and especially amarillo have. Quite frankly I didn't care much for them. I think I still have half of an 11 pound bag.

Are you talking aroma and flavor? Possibly from low beta acid content?

I would describe them as somewhere between a "C" hop and a "Goldings-type" hop. I think a fair sub would be 3 parts cascade and one part Styrian Goldings. They are pleasant in pale ales (where Stone uses them) and I imagine they would be nice in an Amber or Brown ale.

I used a bunch in an IPA and enjoyed them very much. I see them as a mix of cascade & williamette, leaning more on the williamette side. I'm a big fan of williamette, so I dig these hops
