London pub crawls
« on: April 14, 2012, 12:54:10 am »
The joy of living over here in England. Off to London for a trip to Kernel Brewery and then a pub crawl. Brewdog Camden and Euston Tap to name a few of the targeted pubs for the group.  I guess we should get our pub crawls in before the Olympics when prices "fluctuate."

Liked the Euston Tap. Some friends have moved from Germany to London. We will see them there, but not until long after the Olympics.

I remember back in the mid 90s I visited london... ended up around Tower Records and since I"m not really interested in doing touristy things so I found a pub in that square and hit it... then I just started walking to the next pub and the next one and the next one... I had a blast!

My wife and I were there in 1992.  We were hitting pubs everywhere!  I must go back some day!

I'm married to a Brit, so over the years we've been there a number of times. I remember most fondly one trip where I wanted to drink beer at the Wensleydale Heifer to commemorate my love of James Harriot's wonderful books. We went off to Yorkshire Dales where I understood but about 15% of the dialect.
Beers + Language Confusion = snot ripping, side gripping laughter. I was carrying on a conversation with a local about stilts. He was carrying on a conversation with me about stoats and we never did make sense of a word that was exchanged.

In a small pub way out country I hopped up on the bar stool, ordered a pint of best bitter...the publican was sure I meant a half pint. I insisted I meant a pint. He raised his brows detectably, then pulled  me a pint. When that was finished, I ordered another. His brows raised slightly more detectably. I finished my second lovely pint, hopped off my bar stool and fell flat on my back. I got up, dusted myself off, gave him a sheepish grin and headed back to my hotel.

Another good pub crawl. If you ever make it to London, look up Kernel Brewery or their beer.

Kernel Brewey, Craft Beer Co, De Hems, The Bloomsbury Tavern and Brewdog Camden.

Good day out in the town.

This was on their old system. They are in the process of setting up their new 20 barrel system which hopefully means they will be able to distribute a bit further out of London.

I hear it is a good tour but it is finding time to get to all the breweries between here and there that is making it hard to get to Fullers!

You have to be tough and resist temptation, my friend!  You need to pass all those other breweries and take a tour of Fuller's!  LOL!   ;)

I can try but there are no guarantees other than more beer will get in my way!
