Will be heading down there for a week of family vacation.

Looking for good recommendations for beer stores, brewpubs, local brews to try, etc.

Also, any good restaurant recommendations would be more than welcome. I know there are many (we've enjoyed Hominy Grill, FIG, Blossom, Peninsula Grill on a previous visit).

We'll actually be staying in Sullivan's Island, if that helps with recommendations.

Thanks!

With restaurants you almost cannot go wrong and they are starting to have a better beer scene although it can be hit or miss.

For a dive bar I like Gene's Hofbrau

One of my favorite restaurants in the inexpensive EVO (N Charleston)

I really like Red Drum for food as well (Mt. Pleasant)

The food is good at Taco Boy as well

The local breweries are Coast

Holy City

Westbrook

If you are looking for beer bars I would suggest the most up to date info would come from the local bottle shop, ask them for a recommendation

Charleston Beer Works has some locals on

I've not been here, but it looks promising

It's not a popularity contest, it's beer!

Thanks MDixon!

Lots of great info there.  I'll definitely give some of these a try and report back.
