Took the ideas that several other have shared with me and came up with this direct drive Barley Crusher cabinet:

Nice. I just recently had to replace the power venter on our furnace. The motor for that fan is still working and I pan to use it to moterize my mill as well.

I've also built one the other way as well - similar to this BYO article:
http://www.byo.com/stories/projects-and-equipment/article/indices/20-build-it-yourself/1171-motorize-your-grain-mill-projects
I gave that one to my friend and this one works just as well and there is no fan belt required.
The inexpensive surplus motor with the gear reduction built in makes this affordable and has less exposed parts to clean.
You could do a simpler switch setup than I did, but I liked the idea of moving the switch right in front of the mill - on the last one I had it inside the cabinet.

The motors are I think the most expensive part of the grain mill cabinet. If you want, you can look for some bargain motor as a replacement. But, I am not sure if they are also selling the cabinet parts without the motor.
