Superbowl Additions
« on: February 04, 2010, 10:38:21 am »
Ok, so to you, my brewing compadres I must turn and pick yer brains.

I usually like to tie the things I'm brewing to some piece of the moment and as I plan an RIS for this Sunday, I've got to think of Superbowl additions.

New Orleans is a piece of cake - chicory coffee.

Indy though? What am I supposed to do, throw a horse in there? Maybe a big racing slick? What am I missing about that town with a qb that I still have residual college animosity towards?

+1 to the flaked maize.  On NPR this AM they were talking to restaurant owners in both cities about what they planned, and the woman from IN said she was planning on popcorn since corn is a major crop there.  Even mentioned that Orville Redenbacher got his start there.  Hey, this may be the perfect time to pop some popcorn and toss it in!

Damn.. now why the hell didn't I think of popcorn and lactose. Admittedly, for a stout I'm more likely to lean towards lactose than corn.

I think I'll go hang my "experimenters" hat over the in the corner and sit here shamefacedly penitent.

You should turn this into a poll. I vote corn too.
The moral majority, is neither.

why not use horse shoes to create the boil - sort of like a steinbier?

or if the Colts lose, you could put in some choke cherries in honor of the "Man" who could never bring it to the Gators.

lactose would be my real vote

I voted as though I was gonna actually end up drinking the beer (thus - corn). For the absolutely detached people I suppose horse urine is an answer. Hey, you're gonna boil it - right? What's that show on Discovery channel - wild man?

OT: Why are BJCP judges so trusting? There could be ANYTHING in those bottles!

How about some cornstarch, so it's always cloudy? ;D

I guess soul-sucking ennui wouldn't fit in the kettle.

not to take off topic, but I did judge a nearly rancid flanders red once that had the moniker: "Ha-Ha - Look what I made you drink".  lucky for him, he was a good friend of most of the judges so it was all in good fun, otherwise, I might have sent him a "ha-ha" prize of my own as thanks.

Indy though? What am I supposed to do?

Well, One Day at a Time was set in Indianapolis... and Valerie Bertinelli played Barbara...  and now's she doing all that Jenny Craig junk... so... brew a lite beer :)

ps. Mackenzie Phillips played the older daughter but, with what she's been up to lately, I won't go there.
