Aroma hop question
« on: May 13, 2012, 09:14:01 am »
I have a Citra hopped IPA one week into fermentation. I am planning on dry hopping it. I was going to use Cascades for the dry hop but noticed I have 2 oz of Kent Goldings on hand. Any opinions on which of these would be better?

Me too. Cascade has better aroma qualities than KG, IMHO. I use KG for bittering/flavor.

Cascade seems like a better match for the citra than the goldings would be.  i'd use the cascades.

Thankyou for your responses. I went with the Cascades as originally intended. I don't know how I got these goldings. I am guessing from a recipe kit I modified some time ago. Any suggestions on what to do with them?

How old are the Goldings?

Those buggers aren't as intense as American varietals, so they lose their luster pretty quickly.

I don't know how old they are. I don't know how I got them. Probably in a recipe kit I modified. I just found them in the freezer when I was getting my cascades and wondered about using them.
