Black Beer bottles and caps
« on: May 11, 2012, 10:44:16 pm »
So every year I want to do something different for my bottled "barleywine".  This year I wanna do an RIS completely over the top, but I want to find some black bottles and black beer caps...

Anyone got a source?

Hmmm.... can't say I've seen black bottle caps and I think if you put a RIS in a 'brown bomber' I think you've got yourself a black bottle.  You could do a black wax dip on oxygen absorbing caps and get a really cool effect plus have great packaging for aging.

I have some overstock caps that are mostly black.  Check with your LHBS.

Or google is your friend:  http://craftycaps.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=518&products_id=14021

Why not just spray paint the whole bottle and cap?  Why stop at black?
The Home Despot has this cool paint called trunk liner that spits out a textured green and black color.

Get your black bottle caps here
http://www.midwestsupplies.com/plain-black-caps-144-count.html

I buy these in the American Flag design. I must say they are good sturdy caps made of thicker metal than most the caps I have had in the past. As a result my capper really puts a good tight seal on them.

Or clear bottles. They would become black without the need for "spray-painting". ;)
