Buffalo NY beermergency
« on: May 18, 2012, 02:07:17 pm »
I'm stuck here for 3 days at a swim meet. The hotel doesn't have much so I will be making a run to the liquor store. What local beers should I be sure to get?

Depending where you are check out http://www.premiergourmet.com/.
Great selection of beer local (WNY) and abroad and other tasty bits.

While not local to Buffalo-  Flower Power by Ithica Beer Co. N.Y. is the best East Coast IPA I've tried.

For draft find Alternative Brews http://alternativebrews.com/pageDisplay.jsp?pageid=9534

and

Pizza Plant http://www.pizzaplant.com/

Premier is an excellent suggestion for purchasing. I seem to recall the local grocery chain, Wegmans?, having a decent selection.

Southern Tier is probably available there.  They are only a couple ofhours away.  I have never had a beer of their's that wasn't great.

I didn't have a tonne of time to track down beers but I did find Flower Power and it was very good.  Nice and bitter and hoppy.  Excellent and thanks for the recommendation.
So why can't you buy beer and liquor in the same store in NY?  You guys have some seriously screwed up laws.
I saw a few Ommegang beers but I wasn't ready to buy 1.5 L bottles.  I should have gotten some but I'm very cheap.
