I have this one, and I am a HUGE fan of it. You can also get it with a wire lead on it. Its waterproof, which is a definite plus.

Ah yes, the CDN Pro Accurate Quick Tip.  Came in first in America's Test Kitchen testing.  I have one I use for cooking but the probe is too short for my brewing purposes.
Is there another America's Test Kitchen?  This one has been at the top of every ATK list I've ever seen:  http://www.thermoworks.com/products/thermapen/splashproof_thermapen.html

This is what I have, and it rocks.  But it's very expensive.

They recently cited the CDN as being as effective for lot less money.  But, yeah, the Thermapen is really good if you want to spend the $$.

I definitely recommend stuff from Thermoworks.com

I haven't used their Thermapen but I have this mini unit that uses K-type probes (http://thermoworks.com/products/handheld/mtc.html) and I got a couple different probes to handle all my brewing, smoking, and meat needs.

I have this also. I can attest it is definitely waterproof since I have dropped it in the mash and it still works fine.

My only complaint is that the response time is slow, but otherwise it seems very accurate.

I knew it.

Reads about 6 degrees off now.
Its almost two years old, maybe I should change the battery. Cant calibrate it though...............

MEH, I'll send it back and use the lifetime warranty.
Glad I had the dial as a back up.

I have it submerged all the time when I mash.
Otherwise I would say 10 sec.

What do you use to keep it standing upright so it doesn't fall down into the bottom of the mash?

Looks like its designed to stay upright
