Bury St Edmunds, England brew club
« on: January 28, 2012, 05:32:34 am »
If you live in the Bury St Edmunds area, we are looking to have a meet up at Beautiful Beers on St Johns St.  No date has been set but we are looking to see who is interested.  Rene gets plenty of inquiries at the shop about brewing so we are looking to see who is out there.  If you are interested, stop by his shop and let him know or leave a message here and we will get the wheels moving.

More than likely, the first meeting will be bring a beer and some ideas of what we may be looking to do.

Later,

Tim

Well because someone is reading this post and hopefully, they are around Bury.  We are looking to set a date in the next few weeks, possibly 2 March or somewhere shortly after.  It would be an evening thing so if you are interested, leave feedback or stop by Beautiful Beers and let Rene know.

A date has been set for a home brewers get together at Beautiful Beers. It will be on 9 March at 730pm. Everyone is welcome and you can bring some of your home brew if you would like. We don't have an agenda other than meeting people in the area that brew.

If you would, please reply to either this post or send Rene, of Beautiful Beers an email stating you will be coming along. His email is info@beautifulbeers.co.uk

We hope to have a good showing!

We apparently have quite a lot of interest for the 9th even if I am the only poster. If you have some home brew and want to bring it, please do. At a minimum, 3 of us will be there but we may be looking at 20-25 of both US and English home brewers.

Alright, we are set to go with the home brewers meeting at Beautiful Beers @ 730pm.  By the looks of things we are going to have a turnout as we have had a few people sign up.  We are also expecting a few others that have not done to come around which is more than wanted.  We hope to have 15-20 people but if it is more than the more the better.

So come on out, talk about and drink some beer; assuming enough is brought (hint, hint, hint)!  You don't have to bring any, just a joke; but really, bring some beer  ;)

Oh, and cider makers are welcome too!  You can stand in the back.  Just kidding!!!!

Thanks to everyone who showed up! It was great putting some faces to names and meeting new ones. We will be putting some information together and scheduling another meeting in the next month. Stay tuned for further details :)

Alright, the date is set for the next homebrew meeting at Beautiful Beers.  It will be on April 13 (Friday) at 730pm.  We are hoping the few people that couldn't make it out last time will be there.  If you are reading this, and our local to Bury then come on by.  We had a decent turn out last time (10) and were able to share stories and try some new beers.  As always, Rene will provide snacks and some of the beer off the shelf.

Hope to see you there,

Tim

Looks like the crowd will be a bit bigger tomorrow night. Hopefully it leads to bigger things happening in the future but for now, I am hoping for some good people, info and maybe a few beers!

Great turn out last meeting and it was good to see new faces. The next meeting will be Friday, 11 May at 730pm. We may have a mead brewer coming along so now it will be a bit broader in subjects to talk about.  If you have brewed anything lately, bring some along.

The 11 May meeting turned out to be really good stuff.  It appears that the group will be more of a social gathering with little need for formalities in the near future.  This was the third meeting and another completely different group but this one stepped it up a bit.  Thanks to everyone who brought some home-brews with them to include a cranberry/coconut stout, a pale ale brewed with s***ake mushrooms and jojino berries (however they are spelled), my American RyePA and several other beers.  We seem to have a good thing going for Bury St Edmunds.  This town will be seen as a great brewing spot in England in no time!

For those in the Bury St Edmunds area.

We are trying to plan out further than a month at a time.  So far, the monthly events have been working but we are not able to plan an event or specific beer style to bring to the meetings for discussion and drinking so here is the plan for the summer.

The next meeting will be on July 6th at 730 pm.  Bring what you want but the plan is to discuss issues and summer styles which leads into the following meeting which will be on August 3rd at 730pm.  The goal for that meeting is for people to bring in a summer style of beer.  It can be whatever beer style you want but try to keep with the summer theme whether it be a fruit beer, Saison, etc...

If you are on Rene's email list from Beautiful Beers, you will be seeing the same sort of message coming out.

Looking forward to seeing some returnees this time!!!

Tim
