Fridge died...
« on: June 28, 2012, 03:53:57 pm »
So another fridge died on me.  This was my fermenter fridge, so there's currently 4 carboys in there.  The stick on thermometers read 78 right now.  Everything is done fermenting.  Will it be ok for a few days at this temp, if the temp doesn't go up?  Or should I expedite getting a new fridge?

it'll probably be fine. hopefully there isn't much o2 in there so oxidation is not much of a worry and the yeast are done so yeast derived off flavours shouldn't be a worry. wouldn't wait all summer but a few days is not going to hurt anything.

If they are done fermenting, I'd have friends over to help bottle them up (or keg) in order to easily move to other climes (cooler storage locations).  Once bottled, I am sure that you may find friends willing to hold on to them for you for a small take.  ;D
