Irony at its finest...
« on: June 16, 2012, 08:24:00 pm »
I'm here in Ohio, working. My buddy asks me to road trip it with him some 500 miles, to Kalamazoo, Michigan to do a side job (furnace and air) for a Facebook friend of his. The money was too good to pass up, so I went. Had a late dinner Friday at Paw Paw Brewery. Now, here's where things get weird.... We show up at the house, and the guy we are putting the job in for turned out to be an old friend of mine, I worked with ten plus years ago. But, wait, there's more......the street he lives on where we did the job, Bacon Avenue. That's some Ripley's crap right there.

it's a sign that you are living right and well, brother.

Oh, BTW, there is nothing in your story that relates to the definition of "irony". Coincidence, absolutely. I'd even go as far as saying spooky weird hand of God stuff. But not ironic.

3.
coincidental; unexpected: It was ironic that I was seated next to my ex-husband at the dinner.

Here is the third definition for dictionary.com.

Well, if you want to celebrate and hasten the decline of the English language, sure. Quote a definition of irony from the internet.

Speaking of ironic, here: http://www.dailywritingtips.com/what-is-irony-with-examples/

(see what I just did there?  ;) )

Yeah, is it ironic or not ironic that you are hastening (or not hastening) the decline of the English language by linking to an online definition of irony?

In the years you've known me, when did I EVER claim to be smart?

Never. Not once. But you are a savant non-the-less.

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take

Now that's ironic!!

Is it ironic that the song is titled "Isn't it ironic?" when nothing about the song is ironic?
