Solstitium
« on: June 21, 2012, 03:53:00 pm »
Wow.  Nothing here?  I thought fo sure the Puna would have some info on this event.

I had to get up and get a raccoon off the coop....crazy beautiful the night sky laden with the smog of the Milky Way.  Anybody else out there get to see the Way from the front porch?

Mkay.  Imma go set some water, because it is wicked hot.

I just popped my head out, but not a great night for skywatching here. There is a crapload of heat haze up here right now. On a gin-clear night I can sometimes see the Milky Way, but not usually in the summer.

Interesting.
We don't get Heat Haze out here.
Could be due to 13% humidity.

However,
my state is going to burn down this year
and we are getting Fire Haze right now.

Makes for an eerie sunset.

Caint see the mountains
and the Way is lost.

Watching progress
before I head for the adjacent alpine next week.

Going to be a dangerous dry Summer
which, by the way, is half over. ;)

yeah this summer feels like the whole state is one big fireplace. I will be venturing to the Colorado Brewer's Festival tomorrow in Fort Collins, hopefully the fire stay away from the town for the day
“Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drank, I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, “It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.

Good to get the hay up.
That stuff is money in a bale this year.
Hoping for a second cutting here.

Crazy hot and dry here, only mid June.
Going to be a long second half of the Summer.
