I ordered a cider at a local bar the other day and they served it over ice. That was a first time for me. Thought is was weird at first and was going to ask them to repour but I said what the hell and drank it. However, I dont think I'd like it in my beer!

Crispin cider has been marketing that. Bizarre, and with bar prices I'd be angry about paying for less cider.

Since we're talking about whiskey stones...
The Germans use an interesting device called a beer warmer in their bier steins in the winter.  It is a hollow metal tube that is filled with warm water and hung inside the stein to keep their beer from getting too cold.

You gotta love people who will go to such lengths to enjoy beer, even when it's that cold out!

It's not unusual to go to a pub in Ireland and order a cider, and have it served with a glass of ice.

But not ice in beer.

It would seem to me, that the thing to do would be pour a neutral beer like an Original Coors into an ice cube tray, freeze it, and use those to chill the beer. Like iced coffee.

Not that I would ever do such a thing.

Or, take a small amount of your homebrew and eis it, then drink the runnings, re-melt, and then freeze the residual in ice trays. I put ice beer in your beer so you can ice your beer while you beer.

Homebrew concentration?!   Uhuh.  That oughta start a whole nother debate. ;)

FWIW It's been a cool semi-wet summer here too Phil.  Normal windward Hawaii kine summer weather.  No heat-crazed loons putting ice cubes in their beer here. ;D

For anyone who's seen Brother from Another Planet, putting ice in beer is a sure giveaway that you're an alien from outer space!

We have what we call pickup beers around here.  Beers that have been in the backseat or the bed of the truck.  I will crack it open and drink it warm.  No ice needed.
I'll take ice in my mixed drink though, it gives me something to do since there isn't a label to peel... ???

I'm apparently 7 years old cause this makes me laugh:

I thought the same.  Clearly, we are giving the finger to the idea of ice in beer.
I'm not convinced it was a finger that Drew was thinking of.... funny either way though.

It is ok in certain mixed drinks and with gingerale....fin

Absolutely on a really hot day - my Classic American Pilsner can't be too cold and since it comes in at 6.2% ABV, it doesn't hurt to cut it a little with some ice.
