What makes it "Belgian"?
« Reply #30 on: August 04, 2012, 04:04:19 pm »
A Belgian beer can be light or dark, sweet or sour, full bodied or light bodied. Their beer is all over the map in that respect.  The one thing that is fairly common in the flavor profile across the spectrum of their beer is the esters and phenols that is in the magic of the fermentation, created by Belgian yeast. So I think Belgian yeast is a major factor in their beers.  Not saying its the only factor because they use a lot of other ingredients that help make their beer Belgian.
