We buried him this morning before the heat became too oppressive. It was out in boonies at a family cemetery. We brought four shovels with us and filled in the grave ourselves. The pastor got a bit teary and choked up at this gesture and said he have never seen anyone do this before. We just couldn't stand the thought of a back-hoe dumping dirt on him. Figured we'd do it instead.
Have a bunch of cousins around and their support has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.
Haven't been able to properly toast him myself yet. Will do so at the first opportunity.
