Ken Schramm in Hospital
« on: August 03, 2012, 03:35:13 pm »
Wondered if this was appropriate, but seeing that Mead Day is coming up, thought I would post.
 From facebook:

"Been experiencing chest pain lately, and thought it was asthma. I had a cardiac catheterization today. I'm having bypass surgery on Wednesday at Troy Beaumont Hospital to re-establish blood flow through five blocked coronary arteries. "

Keep Ken in your thoughts as you make the Mead on Mead day.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for posting this to the Forum!  I read your message out loud to the office, and I will definitely be keeping Ken in my thoughts this weekend as I observe Mead Day.

Good luck and be well, Ken Schramm!

Cheers,

So sorry to hear that.

Our club, Hogtown Brewers, will have 44 brewers making mead tomorrow. I'll make an announcement and we'll all raise our glasses to Ken's good health. He's a Mead God & inspiration to us all. Hope he has a good procedure and recovers well & speedily.

Best wishes to Ken.

Great guy, great mead maker, great teacher.

We learned a lot from him here in St. Paul, MN.

I wasn't planning on making mead tomorrow, I have other plans.  But I might need to make a quick batch tomorrow in Ken's honor.  Get well Ken.

Five blocked arteries sounds like a lot of blocked arteries. Just picked up a copy of his book a few weeks ago. Hope he pulls through.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Although I have made some derogatory posts about mead in the past I met a good mead maker a few months back who opened my eyes to a few things. Have Ken's book in route to the house as we speak.
