Ok, so I'm trying to woo a lovely lady. Good news- she likes beer! And she's also interested in brewing.  She's not really a fan of the hops. Also, she says she's kind of burnt out on wheats. She's a fan of brown ales (Ellie's is her fav) but I want to get her to branch out and try something interesting, without going too crazy. Definitely don't want to scare her off with something wierd and sour or too oaky and spicy.

I'm thinking something low alcohol (4-5%) easy to drink, refreshing after a workout, etc.  Suggestions?

Sounds like you are trying to introduce her to more types of "beer" not brewing. If you want to introduce her to "brewing" invite her over on a brew-date and show her how it's made. Feed her too...

My wife hates fruit beers, but loves IPAs.

She's not really a fan of the hops.

Well, my wife thought the same thing until she got into beer. In any case, I was only pointing out that even if she really, truly doesn't like hops, a fruit beer isn't the logical opposite of a hoppy beer.

Sorry, I just thought maybe you had overlooked it.

Anyway, I think a fruit beer is good suggestion for someone who wants to try something different but not too "out there".

I do overlook things, and I don't always type the point I meant to make, so thanks for keeping an eye on that for me.

HA!

I think the important thing here, and what I suspect will make the biggest impression on her is that you are sharing something important about yourself. Not saying you should brew something crazy that she will almost certainly not like, just that what you choose to brew with her is not as important as asking her to brew with you. opening up and allowing her to see a real aspect of who you are is going to win her over way more than what style beer you choose.

and +1 to euge, feed her, feed her with wonderful beautiful food that you crafted with the same care and love that you craft your beer with and she will be impressed.

Go with an English Brown Mild...even though it's brown, it's a very light, refreshing malty beer.  Not saying this is a chick beer, but I did make it for an event, and the ladies and bud lite drinkers alike loved it.  If your lady likes brown ales with more malt than hops...this would be perfect for you to introduce her to, as it's something a little different than her fave, but still fits her tastes....she'll like it, and you will look like you're brewing up something for her  ;)

Solid advice. I'm nearing the end of my first keg of Mild right now. She'd probably like something like that. However, I do agree, this is more about the brewing process than the finished product.

Dinner will also involve delicious food, as per euge's suggestion. I mean, what good is a brewer if he can't cook a tasty meal to serve with his beer?!
Beer is like music. I don't have a favorite. I'll take a well-made example of any style!

OMG on the stereotypical answers (fruits, milds, pants/no pants)!

+2 and counting.  This is a craft, and if you show her your interest, show how much loving care you put into it, how it translates to the care and thought you put into everything you love.

Woo away.

And then give her a vacuum for her birthday...
Right after I read this, I was in the breakroom and one of my coworkers was saying that her husband bought her a vacuum for her birthday.  I almost laughed out loud...she was really happy....to each his/her own.

Nicely put and totally agree.  I think its great if there is interest in brewing together.  My wife loves that I brew and loves my beer, but we kind of clash while cooking and brewing. Branching out into different beers may take a while.  For a while my wife only drank hoppy beers, then she started liking other beers and is only recently liking unusual ones.  She still isnt liking my no pants thing, but it is something she has become used to by now.  An English Brown is a good choice. Thats one of the non hoppy ones I made that she tried and liked.   I brewed a Southern Englsih Brown because I wanted to focus more on the malt/fruit than the malt/nut flavors.
