Who's putting fire to the kettle?

This weekend - not I - I've got the Maltose Falcons Sunfest and some brewery cleanup needing to happen!

Oktoberfest. I'm making the jump to all-grain for the first time on Saturday. And since I accidentally bought TWO separate kits, looks like it'll be a long day.

I've got a double banger brewday on Friday.  I'm starting off with an Ofest then it'll be a Belgian Blond.  It'll be a long brewday but lots of fun.  Looking forward to it! :)

double batch of that Stone Levitation clone from BYO/Brewing Network......with hop substitutions of course. No Amarillo, and I have way too much on hand to justify buying a few ounces.

Brewing a big old batch of Doppelbock and kegging a Bavarian Wheat.
Everyone should believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer.

"Starter" Pils - 10 lbs Floor-malted pils, 4 oz Czech Saaz, two packets of yeast.

Also starting a new wild yeast mixed culture. I LOVE using a house mixed culture in place of roselare/lambic blend!

It's a 3 day weekend for me. It never ceases to me that one of the furthest states from Japan is the last one that still celebrates Victory Day (formerly VJ Day), but I'll take it.

Got a big brew day planned Monday. I'm doing a series of 1 gallon/15 minute boil extract batches to test out as many different hop varieties as I can for some hop blends I want to make . Minimum is 5, but I can probably do as many as 9 or 10 if I get a good flow going. Here's the varieties I've got lined up:

Caliente
Summit
Motueka
Rakau
Hop Shot
Calypso
Nelson Sauvin
Galaxy
Sorachi Ace
Nugget
Eric B.

Finally got around to starting a homebrewing blog: The Hop Whisperer

Gonna do a 10 gallon batch of English Mild this Saturday, but I want to check out a few recipes.  If nothing else seems better, I will go with JZ's BCS version - I want some session beer for the football season.

Anyone got a favorite mild they brew?  I made a Lancashire Black Cat Ale clone (extract batch) a few years back that was pretty flavorful, so I may check into that one....this time AG with some Blackprinz?

Cheers!

No brewing this weekend.

Likely cleaning the garage for once this summer since the weather here in Lincoln is supposed to be pleasant in the 80's for a change.

Carbing some beers and dialing in the El Mariachi IPA (habenero, mariachi peppers, and mango) in preperation for the Great Nebraska Beer Fest at the end of the month.

Starters for next weeks Saison brew session.  Last weeks Oktoberfest is happily burbling away in the fermentation chamber.

I have 5 gallons of saison that is ready. gonna keg most of it and put 1 gallon of a couple lbs of persian mulberries.

Might transfer an old ale to secondary for it's long age in glass.

I should probably make a starter as well for a Roggenbier next Friday, OR perhaps I should rack the Pils and use the cakes to make a RoggenLager. Hmmm....

I gotta start thinking about my chirstmas beer. I always put it off for too long and have to rush it and tell people to let it age for a while before drinking.
