Not the MM-3 but I've got one of the original Monster Mills and I'd get another in a heartbeat !

I have the MM3 and it is awesome!!  My hopper can fit about 30# of grain and as long as my drill is charged I can crush it in about 3-5 minutes.

I plan to hook it to an electric motor with a belt.  Do you think that will be any problem?  (I have read all the information on their website regarding such)

Nope. That is a project I have been planning to do but keep putting off...

I have had an MM3 for a few years now.  It has performed quite well.  I have pulleys on mine that drive it at 220 rpm.  It was driven originally by a 1/4 hp motor.  With that it would chew right through barley malt, but  tended to bog down on wheat malt.  I swapped that for a 1/2 hp motor.  Now I can just fill the hopper and come back when it is done. 

I have seen posts favoring using a gear motor and direct drive to minimize stress on the bearings.  Those motors get pricey in a hurry.  I already had the conventional electric motors around, so all I had to buy were the pulleys, influencing my choice.  I will be quite surprised if I ever put enough hours on it to wear the bushings enough to regret this choice.

I've run every single batch at Yellowhammer through our MM 3.0. Takes about an hour to grind 800 lbs of grain. No problems with it, I recommend it.

Thanks everyone.  I p[ulled the trigger and ordered, with the base, and extra large hopper.  Can't wait to give this thing a go.......

Agree.

I mill about 600-700 lb every brew day.
Get at least 1/2 hp motor and you will be fine.

After about 20 years, my old Valley Mill got tired so I bought a new MM3. I got it set up with a 1/2 hp motor last night and ran about 5 pounds of 2 row through it. I'm impressed at how fast it ate the grain. Seems to be a nice crush at the factory settings.

Did you guys who have the MM3 leave yours at the factory settings? It's at little more complicated to change the gap than my Valley was.

I have mine at 0.28, the pain about adjusting is you have to take off that guard.

I've had mine for about 5 years....haven't touched the setting once.
