Wet hopped in secondary.
« on: August 18, 2012, 04:55:35 am »
Hey everyone.
My first time trying to wet hop with cascade and Chinook directly into my secondary.  Has been great experimenting.  My question is, the hops is very brown now and I am wondering if I should take it out or just leave it for another week in secondary.  I don't want to have anything start growing.  Nothing growing as of now and things look fine.  Just curious if i should fish those out before something else happens. Anyone else dealt with this?

Thanks

Lou

I am not completely sure what you are looking for here. If by things growing, you mean an infection, there should be little worry with the alcohol, low pH, and IBU present. I would pull a sample and see if the aroma is where you want it, and see if there is any vegetative flavor. If it is where you want it, go ahead and keg it or bottle it.
