Check out Consumer Reports' Car Reviews book.  Very good info there.  It may not have the 2012 cars listed, but it will point you to trends for the models you're considering, and point out the weak areas you should look for.

I just checked.  They have the 2012 cars on their online car reviews.  Worth the price of a subscription. (IMHO).

FWIW, thieves here in Hawaii prefer manual transmissions.  A good portion of the cars stolen here are for chopping into racing parts.

Checked it out on Consumer Reports. Just like everywhere else, it's rated as the 'goldilocks' of SUVs.

That video is my neck of the woods.  She was lucky the traffic was fairly light.  That stretch can be much busier than it was in the video.

On another note, the clutch in my truck started slipping last night.  One of the other perks of owning a manual transmission.     I really shouldn't complain after 11 years and 77K miles out of one clutch but it's hard not to mumble a bit.

16 years and 230,000 miles on my Honda Accord and still driving on the original clutch.

What is the deal about diesels not being available in the US market?

It mostly depends on who is driving.  77K is premature for a clutch to slip.
