Tapa Talk
« on: October 16, 2012, 09:19:00 pm »
Something new and extremely annoying on this forum:

Every time I navigate to this forum on my iPhone now I get a popup window trying to shove Tapa Talk down my throat.  After I dismiss the download app window I have to log in again, even after I check the keep me logged in radio button at log in.

I do not want to download Tapa Talk.  If you ask me 100 times the answer will still be no.

**Edit:
Problem solved.  Drew's cookie settings fix below was the answer.**

Carl, looking around - this is a common problem on any forum using Tapatalk for users who've upped their privacy settings to avoid cookies.

The Tapatalk plugin bascially drops a cookie to say "ok, I've showed this to you"

Could this be causing your issue?

I don't need an app to do what my tablet/phone's browser already does for free. And very well I might add.

I like TapaTalk so much that using a browser seems like a second rate experience.

+1

However, I did go and check my cookie settings like Drew suggested.  It looks like that fixed the problem.  Thank you Drew!

The cookie settings reset themselves when I upgraded to iOS 6 recently.

Well, the dreaded shove tapatalk down your throat popup is back.

Yes my cookies setting is set to accept all cookies.  Despite that, and checking the keep me logged in radio button,  I have to reject tapatalk and log in every time I access this forum on my iPhone.

Is this some kind of a tapatalk/android conspiracy?  It won't work.  The bigger the PIA it becomes, the more obstinate I become.

Can't you uninstall the app?

I never installed an app to access the forum.  I get here using Safari on my iPhone.

So no "don't ask me again" feature... That sucks.

Odd, as far as I know we've touched not a thing on the forum recently.

It works for me (Droid and its browser). Cookies off and the dialog keeps popping up. Cookies on and it only pops up once. I do have Tapatalk installed though.

It happened on my android tablet yesterday but it has updated itself recently and I haven't used the browser since then. IIRC I only have to decline once for each forum and the annoying pop up goes away. I haven't disabled cookies to my knowledge.
