I love living just 3.5 hours from this

Beautiful white sand, crystal clear waters, no salt, no sharks.

plus if you get to cold you can just set the lake on fire  ;)

You have never been there, I can say for sure.

Might go up to the Keweenaw next week.

Mort, just another online poll. But it does not suck up on the Leelanau.

Of course the cat is now out of the bag, as they say.

There are many that have taken up a summer place, including a rotund red haired Italian with a pony tail.

Like I said, it does not suck up there.

Where the wife and I got married, Kapalua Beach, Maui

Where we live part time.  Kamaole II Beach across from our condo in Kihei, Maui.

Amazing nightly sunsets from Kam II Beach (wife and daughter)

I know, the great lakes are all amazing. I'm just messin. Even down south further where the water was pretty bad a while ago it's been cleaned up alot in the last 30 years or so.

I was fortunate enough to spend two weeks in Michigan w/ a friend's family when I was in college and I must say that I was totally surprised at how beautiful it was up there (went in July and not January!).  Although, I've seen my friend's photos of them ice sailing and that looks like a lot of fun!

Even the Cayuhoga river, which did catch on fire near the refineries and mills, is clean up.

The one benefit from the invasive Zebra Mussels has been that Lake Erie is said to be very clear now. The mussels have filtered out a lot of pollutioin, and also organisms that are food for larger forms of life. The also clog water intakes, grow on docks, and have to be removed from boats.

Hey what are all of those things on the horizon?

I know - the oil and natural gas has to come from somewhere.

It's funny because they've decided that in Michigan, wind turbines will be an eyesore out in the lake but we have oil rigs in the gulf. Never thought of it before but it's kind of hypocritical. Just an observation, nothing political I swear.  :)

The oil rigs out on the horizon are the only thing that sucks about the gulf, at least where we stay. Further east they are not as visible. We stay at Ft. Morgan because there's almost no one down there so we have the beach pretty much to ourselves.

Those oil rigs, especially the ones off the coast of Louisiana, make for some great fishing!

The best fishing I've ever done was 100 miles out of Corpus around some rock formations but the captain said the fish congregate around the rigs' underwater superstructure and you can catch a lot off of them.
