+1. We had the warmest winter I ever experienced last year. Year before we had several snow falls including a White Christmas. bugs were terrible this summer.

As much as I don't want to deal with the consequences of snowfall in this area I have to agree.  The bugs were terrible this summer.  Also, my 2 year old doesn't know what a sled is.

We're supposed to have significantly less rain than usual this winter, which translates into less snowpack in the mountains and less water next summer.  Haven't heard long range temp projections yet.

You guys get any this morning? We just had a dusting here in town but Wolf Creek got 18" with another 2-6" forecast for tonight. I waxed my powder skis in anticipation. ::)

Whales have returned - surf's up - citrus is in season - nights in the mid 60s...  yep, winter is near.   ;D

I haven't been able to go ice fishing in years, and and I'm more likely to need shorts than long underwear during deer season nowadays. Global warming sucks.

My wife's favorite time on the islands is whale season.  When we are there during whale season, I can't let her drive because she keeps her eyes out on the water and not the road!  I like the whales too, but enjoy the surf in the winter more!

I was surfing at Kua Bay last Wednesday.  There were several pods of humpbacks a few hundred yards off shore.  I could hear and feel them singing.  Quite a few babies this year too.  It's fun to watch them learning how to breach, "Hey Mom, watch what I can do!"  They seem to really like the Kona-Kohala Coast now that all those goofy ironmen have moved on.  ;)

70F out today, and snow doesn't seem to stay stuck to the ground around here, when it does happen. But I've been down south here for 5 years and I still don't know how much the winters have been odd and how much is normal for the 4 degrees of latitude I changed from where I grew up.

My thermapen says it's 79.5F right now.  That may be slightly warm, but it is still a nice time of year to be in Florida.

Headed for single F digits here tonight
due to a clear star laden moonless night.

Burning some good wood in a new stove.
Worthy night for oak.

Moved first snow of the year this morning. 
Couple inches of dry and
 I used a broom. 8)

Was down to a t-shirt by 9 a.m. this year. Listening to frogs and crickets and watching butterflies is not what deer season is all about!

Here Southern Iowa it was 70 deg. F at midnight on Saturday and 35 F at Noon on Sunday.  I don't mind the cold and actually look forward to it.  My hangup is why do we have move from warm to cold in 8 hours?   ::)

Knowing the eather lately, we'll be in the 70's by mid-week.
