Blackberry Mead with Boiron Blackberry Puree
« on: July 05, 2023, 03:41:41 pm »
First time I've used Boiron fruit puree (from France) in a mead. The mead was started on 5/31/23 with 12 lbs of Ames Farm Wisconsin honey and I got 2.75 gallons of must . Today I added 2 liters of Boiron Blackberry fruit puree. It's  expensive but very good and I didn't need to strain the puree and I just poured it in the fermenter. I usually use Oregon Fruit puree but I couldn't find it.  I took a small sample today and it's delicious. I'll let my wife taste it then we will decide if we need to add another liter of puree. My wife loves mead and I mostly make it for her because I usually drink homebrew.

Does the fermentation pick back up after adding the puree or do you stabilize the mead first?

The mead was near final gravity when I added the puree. So ii in only dropped the FG about 2 points. Gave my wife a sample and it is really good!
